Elisabet Alba Rio is a Mallorca-based visual artist working within contemporary neo-expressionism. Her artistic journey reached a turning point during the global pause of the pandemic, when painting became not only a means of expression, but a vital necessity — a way to process emotion, memory, and lived experience.

Her work is defined by a sophisticated visual language where gesture, texture, and matter act as narrative elements. Working primarily with oil paint and palette knife, she builds thick impastos and tactile surfaces that invite the viewer into an intimate, sensory encounter with the canvas.

Through introspective figuration, her paintings explore themes of identity, memory, and the raw beauty of the everyday. Rather than seeking literal representation, her practice embraces emotional intensity, contrast, and chromatic freedom as tools for storytelling.

Her work has been acquired by private collectors and has received attention from international art platforms, supporting the development of a consistent and evolving artistic practice. She is currently developing cohesive series oriented toward gallery collaborations and curated exhibitions, continuing her research into emotion, materiality, and color as central forces in her work.
